New Horizons...

It's quite possible that our loyal readers have stopped coming to our blog for lack of new entries. I don't blame you, I would have. Gaizka has at least posted two within the last 6 months, and it's been about a year since I have posted any. I have no excuses because I've spent the last 6 months doing nothing other than practicing Spanish...

Well, to catch up Gaizka and I spent a nice semester in Spain from January until May. I took the most challenging Spanish class available at Deusto University in Bilbao (where I studied abroad in 2005), and Gaizka had a fruitful internship with UNICEF. We went to Egypt for an amazing trip during spring break, and when we got back to Spain, Aunt Eva and Uncle Larry came out for a fun trip.

The last week of May, Gaizka and I came back to Sonora for my cousin Jeff's wedding with his long-time girlfriend, Amy. The idea was to surprise everyone, and Jordan was our accomplice in the plan, and was ready to pick us up at SFO. We totally shocked the family and almost gave Mom, Nana, and Papa heart attacks. We really had fun celebrating the wedding and catching up with family. Gaizka returned home to Getxo after 10 days, and I will stay here in Sonora until the end of July. I've been wanting to spend as much time with family as possible, especially by babysitting my darling niece Lunita...

Gaizka and I have both been accepted the NOHA Master's Program in Europe, an Erasmus Mundus "programme," in the field of International Humanitarian Aid/Action. The master is a three part inter-university, multilingual, multidisciplinary program, and begins in Warsaw, Poland for a 10 day intensive orientation and introduction. After Poland we will spend 5 months at Deusto University, doing the core classes, then we will change to one of the other 7 Universities that offer the NOHA master for a specialized semester. Among our top options are Dublin, Ireland; Uppsala, Sweden; and Bochum, Germany. The final third of the program is overseas, and focuses on internship opportunities and thesis writing. Our top option for that portion is Columbia, New York, but we can't get our hopes up yet... We aren't sure how things will develop after Deusto.

Thanks to everyone who still visits our blog! I will try to be more consistent from now on regarding the updates. Love to all!
